What to do with sludge? What are the common process methods? Which sludge dewatering process is suitable for your own situation?
The sludge treatment process generally includes four treatment or disposal stages. The first stage is sludge concentration. The main purpose is to reduce the initial volume of sludge and reduce the volume of the structure or equipment for subsequent treatment. The second stage is sludge digestion to decompose the organic matter in the sludge. Dewatering will further reduce the volume of sludge; the fourth stage is sludge disposal, and the final sludge will be absorbed by some means. The supernatant or filtrate produced in the above stages still contains a large amount of pollutants, so it should be returned to the sewage treatment system for treatment. The above typical sludge treatment process can enable the "four modernizations" of sludge after treatment:
(1) Reduction: Due to the high water content of the sludge, the volume is large and fluid. After the above process, the volume of sludge is reduced to one tenth of the original, and the liquid is converted into a solid, which is convenient for transportation and consumption.
(2) Stabilization: The content of organic matter in the sludge is very high, it is easy to rot and produce foul odor. After the treatment in the digestion stage in the above process, some of the organic matter that is easily corrupted is decomposed and transformed, which is not easy to corrupt, and the malodor is greatly reduced, which is convenient for transportation and disposal.
(3) Harmlessness: The sludge, especially the first settling sludge, contains a large number of pathogenic bacteria, parasite eggs and viruses, which is likely to cause large-scale transmission of infectious diseases. After the digestion stage in the above process, most of the weed eggs, pathogenic bacteria and viruses can be killed, and the sanitary index of sludge is greatly improved.
(4) Recycling: Sludge is a kind of resource, which contains a lot of heat, and its calorific value is between 10,000 and 15000kJ / kg (dry mud), which is higher than coal and coke. In addition, the sludge is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and is an organic fertilizer with high fertilizer efficiency. Through the digestion stage in the above process, organic matter can be converted into biogas, so that the heat in it can be utilized, and at the same time, its fertilizer efficiency can be further improved. The techniques commonly used for sludge concentration include gravity concentration, centrifugal concentration and air flotation concentration. Sludge digestion can be divided into two categories: anaerobic digestion and aerobic digestion. Sludge dewatering can be divided into two categories: natural drying and mechanical dehydration. Common mechanical dehydration processes include belt filter press dehydration and centrifugal dewatering. There are many ways to dispose of sludge, including agricultural and forestry use, sanitary landfill, incineration and production of building materials.
The above-mentioned sludge dewatering process is a typical sludge treatment process and has been widely adopted in various places. However, due to different local conditions and specific conditions, there are still some simplified processes.
